Potential Google Adsense Trojan Horse Virus

Posted by admin in December 20th, 2007

Has your Google Adsense income decreased due to less advertisement clicks?

BitDefender, a Romanian antivirus company proclaims they have detected a malicious Trojan horse virus that is attacking the Google Adsense network.

Millions of websites and blogs have included the Adsense script code within their pages, in order to generate supplemental income through Google’s ad click network. We all know that the Adsense code is designed to display relevant text advertisements pertaining to the web page content. BitDefender has discovered the issue of a Trojan horse virus that hijacks the Adsense code and replaces the advertisements with a separate third-party code. What this means is that your adsense clicks and revenue are being routed away from the Google servers and not being registered. In addition, your Adsense account could be terminated if Google detects such malware that redirects the Adsense code.

Not to worry though, big G states they have “manual and automated processes” to prevent such Trojan horse hijacks.

We will let you and Google be the judge of whether or not this is just an advertising ploy, by BitDefender, to sell more antivirus software. We do not run Adsense ads, but if your Adsense revenue has decreased, it is definitely worth checking out.
